Thoughtfully designed infill extension

West Sussex

This thoughtfully designed infill extension transformed a cramped, poorly arranged kitchen and an indistinct front entrance into a light-filled, welcoming and highly functional heart of the home. By squaring off the building’s footprint, we created space for a generous open-plan kitchen and a clearly defined entrance — both practical in use and architecturally coherent in form.

A milled Code 6 lead roof, detailed with 50mm wood-cored rolls, crowns the extension with timeless character. Conservation-grade rooflights and a bespoke front canopy complete the composition, blending traditional materials with contemporary needs.

This technically complex project required careful coordination of structural design, planning consent and detailed construction. Working in close collaboration with our design-savvy clients, we ensured the extension integrates seamlessly with the original building while fully complying with planning and building regulations. The result is an understated yet distinctive addition that quietly enriches everyday living.

Client feedback
“Dave did a great job for our extension. The work he did was excellent and we really appreciated the fact that he embraced a collaborative approach to the design and flow for the space. It has turned out better than we expected.”
